Some girl at work quit because the night before another girl from work found her sleeping with her boyfriend for like the 5th time and beat her up or something. Your lives. I was like oh hell nah, oh no, honey you gots to go. Such civilized people in this country.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

On election day I went to this church by my house to vote. It was really slow. I waited maybe 5 to 10 minutes in line before I voted. I checked like 5 times to make sure that I had put the line for Kerry. I voted no on the racist Prop 200 and Yes for 400. Not so much that I have faith in the light rail but I am willing to pay a .1 percent sales tax to support alternative modes of transportation. There was a MoveOn Pac respresentation at the voting place I went to. It was an Old woman and a borderline obese man with a handmade MoveOn Pac sign and some documents. I just smiled and said hi. They looked so sad. They must have known.

I did meet a few Kerry supporters the day of the election. I modified my "I voted Today" sticker to a "I voted for Kerry Today" sticker. I had at least 3 or 4 people say thank you and 2 who wanted to discuss the evils of Bush with me. I more than happily obliged.

Needless to say I had a very bad feeling in my stomach when I woke up Wednesday morning and turned on NPR. Pretty much 5 minutes into listening I heard John Kerry's speech conceding the election to W. My first thoughts were that I need to find someway to keep my money and my work out of their hands. Never take american owned prescription drugs, try and drive as little as possible, shop at the co-op for groceries.

So with all the republicans in the senate now and the fact that he will probably get to appoint at least 1 and maybe 3 supreme court justices, Bush is going into his second term as one of the most powerful presidents in history.

Just for the record with how Bush won Florida with no question, Daschle lost his senate seat and republicans pretty much swept almost everything up for grabs I think something crooked was going on. Either that or people are even dumber than I think they are and I already thought they were pretty damn stupid.

Most media I've listened to is saying that the issue that decided this election was "moral." Can you people please get off the fact that Clinton got his dick sucked? I really don't think that had much to do with it but still. Moral issues shouldn't have a large weight in how you make your voting decision. I base it on how someone is going to run the country and any way you slice is Bush has failed and will continue to fail. We're appointing someone to run our country, not someone to be a role model for our kids as we fuck our wife's sister in law.

A stat they used to back this up was that among church goers Bush had like 80% of the vote and among non church goers Kerry had 70%. It sort of typifies the people who voted. Bush voters have hope and faith in an idea. They'll believe things their told without proof. They want to have something to hold on to even if they don't know it's real. They're also driven by fear. They go to church for fear of death and nothing after, they vote for bush for fear of terrorism. They can't see any further than that. Kerry voters were looking at the actual job Bush did and did not approve. The way he actually IN REALITY was responsible for the death of many people, probably as many as Osama Bin Laden.

Hopefully by the next election I'll be casting an absentee ballot from Canada. Or the UK, France, or somewhere else in the European Union.

Only 13 days until we see who outnumbers who in America. Are there more Fat Rednecks, backward thinking mormons, flag plastering SUV drivers, Fox news watchers, Greedy environmentally destructive Hummer driving business whores, and American Idol watchers. Or are there more reasonable, somewhat concerned, fairly intelligent people in America. I'm scared.

My prediction of Bush miraculously finding Bin Laden before the election hasn't come true yet. I'm glad for that. This is a time where you truley feel helpless as a citizen of the US. They've created this social atmosphere amongst people. I cringe when I see a Bush sticker. It's usually an SUV cutting me off in traffic as they swerve through with no regard for anyone but themselves.

I'm actually getting to like programming it's not as tedious as I expected it to be.

Ever since my European History teacher got another job and sort of made the class I'm in an online course it's dropped to my third favorite class. Still in front of Survey of American Music. I'm just trying to get through those classes. The Music class involves reading some boring shit and listening to lectures in a very uncomfortable environment. The history class I went to because I like history lectures for some reason. But now it's just reading the text book and trying to prepare myself for this 10 page history paper I'm going to have to write.

My other two classes are better. They're harder but I can focus on them more easily than those other two classes.

In about a week and a half I have two math tests coming up. One on like a Tuesday and the other on Thursday so I'll probably be non existent between now and then. The second one is a mastery test where you just do derivative after derivative, that one should be allright as long as i am careful.

I had a dream that I saw Golondrina and she was pissed at me for ditching Ikea. I just had to do it, I felt bad about it, but I just couldn't handle the stress of switching jobs right now.

So the first week of classes is over. My european history class is good. ASU is full of the MTV crowd. To give you an idea, there were numerous booths set up around campus just to distribute information regarding the DVD "The Girl Next Door." That is not a joke either. I kind of wish I was going to a school where people went to, oh I don't know, learn...

I have a class with like 200 people in it this semester. I didn't want to put myself in that kind of situation but I did. I could have swore it said 40 seats were the maximum, but it must have been 40 seats available. And they all filled up. Imagine going to a large movie theatre that's packed full of Ambercrombie and Hollister people to see The Girl Next Door every Tuesday and Thursday. It's by far the easiest class I have and I absolutely dread going to it.

NUBIA. How was your first week? You need to update, ho. And don't give me that homework bullshit.

I have to park in lot 59. Which means I park somewhere around scottsdale community college and then walk to ASU main.

That should have been the required text for that class. My book for Europe after 1945 was like 70. It's called Europe in the 20th century. It covers 1900-1999. We better start halfway through that fucker too because I signed up for Europe AFTER 1945 I don't want none of that pre-world war 2 bullshit.
Nubia, you know you still have a live journal right?

I'm in the second half of 1984. It's really good. If anyone's read that book, Noam Chomsky is the Goldstein of real life.

Yesterday the store manager at Target was trying to give me a hard time about not coming in on my day off. I was like sorry dawg, I don't have a good excuse other than I just want my day off. I wanted to say "it would be so much easier if we were slaves and you could just make me come in tomorrow wouldn't it?" One of the good things about wage slavery is you have some rights. Ah the wonderous world of capitalism. The execs there just have a fucked up attitude like it's some sort of priviledge to be working at all. Just because they have to work 60 hours a week and don't get paid overtime. I'm glad I'm not in their position. I feel sorry for people like Dave, though. He realizes that work isn't that serious and there are more important things in life but they still make him work 10 hour shifts and shit like that when everyone knows he'd rather be at home with his family or baking (and I don't mean smoking weed, he actually bakes food... I guess it's his hobby).
The elders from the Village are right, money is the root of all evil. Ok I'll never reference that movie again.

In other news, I just got back from Quiznos and there were like 14 asian teenagers there. I was thinking am I late for the calculus club meeting.

I want to read Fahrenheit 451 and Lord of the Flies next. See, I went to a shitty high school where they didn't require any reading other than condensed versions of shakespear and other short stories. I didn't realize it then, but now I see how much of a failure that school actually was. I think the only book I read while there was Catcher In The Rye in my senior NIGHT english class. The teacher of that class was awesome though. I thought he was gay but apparently he had a woman because Frankie and I saw him holding hands with some lady once outside of school. It was always akward for me to see a teacher outside of school. Anyway that school did have a few good teachers. And some really shitty ones. And then the tweeners. Mr. McDaniel the photo teacher, Mr. Russell world history, Mr. Edison US history, and that english teacher who's name I forgot were all pretty good. This english honors teacher and Mr. Fakeri math SUCKED. Mrs. somethingorother who taught typing or whatever was a tweener. She seemed like a good teacher but she was too shy and she had this shaking in her voice when she would speak outloud. That bitch could type though. Like 532 words a minute. It was crazy though when she would come over to anyone's computer she would be like cautious and shit.

Ironically enough its at a drug testing clinic. And they didn't say anything about drug testing him. Lucky fucker. I go 4 or 5 months without smoking and he gets a job at a drug testing clinic that doesn't drug test.

I had a weird ass dream that Matt lived in a trailer park in Arizona near Scottsdale and I went to visit him and all these like stereotypical Louisianans were outside barbequeing.

The Lonesome Crowded west is really good. The walkmen were allright I liked them more towards the end. Their drummer was really good. I didn't like their lead singer's voice.
So Monica and Nubia almost died at the Sonic Youth concert. I have a feeling the Modest Mouse one will be a little more tame. I saw some rough lookin fools standing outside the Marquee when I went to get the tickets at 3:30 that day.

I have the Batman the Animated Series DVD collection now.
Oh yeah. The other Monica and I read a fact on one of the cookies we bought from the co-op in Tempe. It said that for every person who switches to a vegan diet an acre of trees are saved. That made me want to switch. But.. but... but.. cheese.

fuck the g ride, i want the machines that are makin em

So I'll probably be working at Ikea come October if my background check and drug test go fine. I'm excited about it, it seems like a way less stressful situation and it will be less hours which I will need with what I expect to be a full load at school the next couple years.

So I'll be starting my farewell tour at Target soon. It will be crazy to not work there anymore, that was by far the longest job I've ever had. The number of people I dislike outnumbers the people I like for probably the first time since I've been working there, though, so it has to be done.

I have Monday - Thursday off. I gotta bargain with someone to get Friday off so I can see Modest Mouse.

Damn, my family is whiter than I could've imagined. The homepage on the computer in our living room is KNIX.com. All I can say is wow... wow.

I just watched the last half of a TOIGHT interview with Michael Moore on that evil liberal media giant known as the public broadcast system. Basically the main point of the part I saw was that the media failed on reporting and asking the tough questions on the war in Iraq and that if they would have done their job the war in Iraq wouldn't have even happened. And then that crazy mufka Charlie Rose said that even if the media did so would the people listen and would they act. He has a good point also. They'd probably just change it back to American Idol or The Bachelor. Moore quoted Lincoln and said that as long as the people have the information the republic will be safe. I'm hoping they replay it so I can tape the whole thing later.

So I just got home from working Manny's shift at Target. It was a normal 8-4:30 shift but I came in with no projects to do so I knew I was fucked. Jeff saw me and he was like "where are you working today" and I said, "salesfloor, I switched with Manny." When he heard that he got this look on his face as if he was a scavenging vulture who just saw a fresh lonely carcass. Needless to say my day was shitty. I spent it doing one thing after another for Jeff.

But anyway, I just hung out with mi familia and watched fireworks from our front yard for the 4th of July. For some reason I kept wanting to sing that 9/11 song that some country singer made after 9/11. I just don't know the words so I just kept saying "nine eleven" over and over in a country voice.
